This is from the first shoot with my new, cheap-o seamless backdrop. In portraiture, nothing matters more than the subject's expression and I scored a beauty here.
It looks like the cat is out of the bag.
Wondering why it's so impossible to get a table at State Bird Provisions? It's not just all the media fawning. Turns out local tech types have been writing bots to make reservations at the restaurant, making it nearly impossible for prospective diners to get a table
To pass the time during paternity leave, I wrote a Node.js app to help me score a table at State Bird Provisions. I planned to make the app ping their reservation page periodically, hoping to discover the time when new openings were made available. With that tidbit of knowledge, I would have an edge when booking a table, or so I thought.
A few nights ago, a deep groaning noise startled me from sleep around 3:00AM. Rubbing my eyes, I sat up and scanned the room expecting to see the dog heaving up her dinner. Instead, I discovered Christina, my pregnant wife, silhouetted in the doorway and bent over in pain. She took a moment to catch her breath and then spoke in a shaky voice: "I think we need to go to the hospital".
About a month has passed since I dropped what has come to be called “The Droneposal” on my fiancée, Christina. The resulting video, put together by Chris Geiger, has been picked up by dozens of blog sites and news outlets around the world—some of them actually respectable. As of today we are at 110,000 YouTube views and climbing.

For the last few months, I have been planning an elaborate proposal to my girlfriend (and baby-momma) Christina Dam. The idea was to have the ring flown in aboard an RC hex-copter, sort of riffing off of the drone topic that's been so prevalent this year. On April 7th, everything came together for one crazy-ass proposal that she's sure to never forget. The best part is that the whole thing was captured on video (Click the image above to watch). It is embarrassing and extremely nerdy but I am very proud of having pulled this off. That said, I had a lot of help.
